Who We Are

Treats for Chickens hatched in early 2009 - yes, hatched. But, before Treats for Chickens there was Ranch Hag Hens - a busy retail barn located in Sonoma County, CA., the old-time Chicken Capitol of the World!  We have deep family roots in the historic poultry paradise of Petaluma!

Ranch Hag Hens was a rustic sort of place with green grass, bales of straw, hens, roosters, pullets and chicks all busily spending their days in the lap of luxury sunning, dusting and scratching the earth's surface. Our home ranch flock featured a notorious gang of chickens we fondly named "The Outlaws".

Inside the barn were all the fixins' one could possibly need to fulfill their backyard chicken adventures - along with the freshest and most delicious eggs collected from fluffy nesting boxes. New baby chicks hatched in the Spring, and roosters crowed all year long.

Ranch Hag Hens was a marvelous Mecca of chicken education and inspiration that was created/operated by Dawn Russell, her son Jake and husband Dennis.  

It was in the barn of Ranch Hag Hens that today’s feather lovin’ folk encouraged the creation of  Treats for Chickens - Health and Happiness for the Modern Backyard Chicken.

In 2009 Treats for Chickens hatched as the trusted leader of unique and nutritious treats and supplements created exclusively for backyard pet chickens. Products are created without the use of pesticides, toxins and harsh chemicals and all of us here at Treats for Chickens believes in health and happiness for the modern backyard chicken... One cluck at a time.
