Backyard Chicken Lovers First Aid Kit Suggestions

Let's hope you don't come across a poultry related emergency but in case you do it's good to be ready. 

Round yourself up a bucket, basket or plastic pail with a secure lid.  Gather the following items and place inside.  Chances are you already have a good assortment of these items in your home. 

Label your container Chicken ER on the sides, top or with a clearly visible hanging tag. 

Store in a cool, dry location that is easily accessed.

¨  paper towels

¨  q-tips

¨  disposable gloves

¨  small rags

¨  old towel

¨  monoject plastic syringes (without needles),  in varying sizes

¨  medical tape

¨  duct tape

¨  jar of cornstarch or blood stop powder

¨  bag of vitamins and electrolytes

¨  sharp scissors

¨  sharp nail clippers

¨  spoon

¨  small bowl or jar with lid

¨  eye dropper

¨  alcohol wipes or bottle

¨  hydrogen peroxide

¨  Neosporin or similar product

¨  betadine solution

¨  blukote sanitizer

¨  bottle of saline solution

¨  bottle of water

It’s a good idea to group similar items together in a pouch, zip lock bag or small box.  For example: group together scissors, tweezers, nail clippers, eye dropper.
